2013 Summer Conference updates: My Life My Power to be Featured at Next Conference

My Life My Power (MLMP) is a National 501(c)3 Anti-Bullying and Youth Development Non-Profit, that was founded in 2010 by Undefeated Mixed Martial Arts Fighter and WWE’s Tough Enough Champion, Daniel Puder, as a program to address the overwhelming bullying crises. After hearing the tragic stories of children and teenagers who committed suicide after suffering from bullying and intimidation, Daniel felt a personal connection to the situation and knew that something needed to be done to change the mindset of our youth. Rather than simply saying a few public words about this issue, Daniel was compelled to create a complete program geared toward youth, to be implemented in the school system to prevent more tragedies from happening.

The My Life My Power program has been designed to teach our youth the importance of GOAL SETTING, MENTORING, CHARACTER BUILDING, PERSONAL BRANDING, RESUME BUILDING, and LEADERSHIP in order to shift a bullying mentality and diminish the negative mindset that they may have toward themselves, their peers, and authority figures to ultimately lead to their own success and happiness in life. It is important to note that within the different schools and after-school programs that have implemented

the My Life My Power book program, teachers, school staff, parents, and students have told us that those involved in the My Life My Power program are not only more motivated and goal oriented in the classroom, but they are empowered to achieve success through our teaching them all of the important and necessary life skills. In addition, the overall school climate and culture is improved as the students are more prone to working together in a team atmosphere and be peer mentors to one another.

As of December 2012, My Life My Power has partnered with the United States President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, in which every student that goes through our program will receive a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award. In addition, My Life My Power’s program has become University accredited

and approved by the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program Curriculum Committee, in which high school students are able to receive up to 6 free undergraduate credits, which can be applied towards elective credits at Nova Southeastern University or another University of their choice.

The thing that sets the My Life My Power program apart from other anti-bullying programs and campaigns is that My Life My Power is provided to students year round through a 300 page interactive workbook. Once My Life My Power has been adopted by a school or an after-school program, a “club” will be established and will meet during lunch or after school to go through a different chapter of the book, (how often the club will meet is flexible according to each school and after-school program). Each meeting will then be overseen by a school safety officer, teacher, or school staff member, and will be student led in order to teach peer mentoring and leadership skills.
